Grant Opportunities

Grants are made possible through funding from the Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) and the City of Burlington. Burlington's NPP grant helps fund grants to commercial and residential property owners and small business owners in the New London District. Please review all grant guidelines before applying.​​
Commercial Façade Grants
Grants up to $5,000 are available to businesses and property owners in the New London District through the Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP). All owners of commercial properties within the district may apply. Please note, a Commercial Façade Grant is a reimbursement grant payable when all work is completed and inspected as appropriate.

Eligible improvements may include:

Uncovering and restoring historic facades and storefronts

Removing existing damaged or poor-quality facade materials

Replacing damaged or poor-quality materials with more appropriate and attractive design materials

Replacing signs (both projecting and sign bands) and awnings
-
Replacing or adding exterior lighting
-
The following may be funded as part of a more comprehensive facade improvement:

Windows, doors, exterior cleaning, tuck-pointing, painting, shutters, gutters, and historical architectural elements (such as cornices)

To qualify, owners must submit proof of ownership and proof of insurance in good standing. Applicants must also be able to prove that they are current with the mortgage and all taxes. Completed applications and copies of all associated documents are to be turned in to the NPP Grant Administrator for consideration by applying online or downloading and mailing a hard copy of the grant application and all requested materials to:

Residential Façade (Home Revitalization) Grants
Through the NPP grant program, the City of Burlington partners with Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey to complete home revitalization work in the New London neighborhood. All owners of residential properties within the district may apply for residential facade grants. This home preservation funding is designed to revitalize communities through improvements to home exteriors, including:

Carpentry repairs (doors, porches, steps)

Painting (siding, gutter repair, or power washing)

General cleaning (trash removal, cleaning of exterior debris)

Accessibility modifications (wheelchair ramp, exterior handrails)
-
Landscaping (cutting down brush, cutting back shrubbery, planting flowers and bushes)
